I Can Honestly Say that Chartering This Classic Yacht, Was One of The Best Holidays I ever had
Comfortable yacht. Amazing crew. Superb food. Fantastic locations.
If you are in search of an inspiration for your next holidays, maybe this post will help.
I am a huge fan of yachting, sea and everything that includes great food and quality wine. So you might imagine how excited I was when me and my friends embarked Gulet Anna Marija for an amazing 7 days cruise along Croatian coast.
My name is Miha (Product Development Director for company Goolets) and if you like Yachting, check this post out.

So lets go ...
Arrival – Check in
Start of my cruise was in Dubrovnik and we did a one-way charter to Split. Before departure I had the time to walk between the walls of this beautiful town.
Accommodation on Anna Marija
Anna Marija has 27 meters in length and 6 very comfortable cabins, that can easily accommodate up to 12 guests. Cabins are all covered in wood (Mahogany) which gives them a particular charm and each cabin has its own private bathroom.
We were welcomed by the crew of 4 (Captain, Chef, Waiter, Sailor).
Sleeping – First night
Our first overnight was in Bay Šipan where we enjoyed our dinner and the beautiful sunset. Tired from journey and expectations we slept like baby’s.
I must say that you could feel the quality of bed linens as well as comfort of the beds. But nothing could compare by the tranquillity of the bay where we stayed, away from everything, just with the sounds of waves under millions of stars.
Taking it Easy – Day 2
We cruised to Mljet National Park on the second day and stopped in village Polače.
I just enjoyed reading my book, while my friends were a bit more active, doing some water sports, cycling the Island Mljet, snorkeling,…
Flexibility
One of the best parts of renting your own yacht is, that everything is flexible. Your crew takes care of everything (cooking, cleaning, driving) and all you need is some imagination on how you will spend your day.
For example on day three, we headed towards island Korčula and here is how we organised ourselves:
- Some of the people visited Badija Island and did some trekking.
- A couple of friends went to Korčula town and partied all night long.
- While I booked a “wine tour” around the island and gave the hinterland a chance.
Cuisine
Food is one of the most important parts when renting a gulet type yacht in Croatia. Our chef “Mateo” was amazing. All the dishes were pure symphony.
I even managed to squeeze some secret recipes from the chef and am trying to replicate it at home (it is not quite the same and I am not sure if this is the case due to local ingredients, or superb views we had all week long).
What to do during a cruise?
People who think that will be bored on a gulet are wrong. Water skiing, banana ride, paddling, snorkelling, swimming, hiking, cycling, drinking, reading, exploring towns. Every day you have new locations and other options on what to do. Your only limit is your imagination.
Crew deserves a special attention
We spent evenings on Aft Deck or in salon where we had great moments with the crew. Captain Marko is a cool guy. Chef Mateo is a genius. Waiter Dino is huge fun and Deckhand Robert is always up to something, all with the goal to make clients happy.
