Why Primošten should be more famous
You can visit the small town of Primošten on several occasions and you will always like it a lot. In this post, we will try to explain why. If you choose to cruise Northern coast in Croatia you should also definitely give this place a try and here is why!
What are the 3 main highlights when it comes to Primošten?
- The city center is super nice for a walk around.
- There is a beautiful church with a great view on the top of the hill just in the middle of the center.
- Lots of small little charming shops and ice cream shops.
The best way to visit Primošten with a gulet is if you start the cruise in Zadar or Šibenik. You can check Primošten while cruising Kornati Islands and Krka Waterfalls also.
Things to do and places to visit
Velika Raduča beach
Velika Raduča Beach is located in the beautiful tourist resort. This pebble beach is the favorite beach of tourists and locals. Beautiful blue sky, clean and clear sea, deep shade, are just pure enjoyment. The beach is ideal for families with children because of its mild entrance into the sea, as well as for older people and young couples.
The beach can be reached by car or by boat (it is possible to anchor outside the area for swimmers). Even if you are not in the mood for a swim and early morning walk is priceless.
Hilltop 15th Century Church of St. George in Old Town Primošten
The whole old town Primošten is lovely and offers very nice walks around the round peninsula and all over the little town. The hilltop church is just like icing on the cake. From the coast, you can only go up, because the church in the middle of the town stands on top of a hill in the center of the town.
However, climbing is very worth it because the views are gorgeous. Walking around the peninsula along the beautiful promenade by the sea is a really special experience.
Lady of Loreto
One of the biggest shrines to the Virgin Mary in the world is taking shape in the town of Primošten near Šibenik on the Dalmatian coast. The 17-meter high statue Lady of Loretto watches over Primošten and it was placed on its base on Gaj hill overlooking the city. There’s also a lot of olive and wine gardens around that add to the amazing view.
Sunset there is the most amazing and peaceful place so it is worth walking to the top.
Vineyards
Croatian wines are characterized by a diversity that derives from an unbelievably vast array of climatic conditions. The well-known Primošten vineyards, with their distinctive composition of vines, stone, and sea have become recognizable in the entire world. They are often called the “stone lace” as they are entwined with kilometers of dry-stone walls. These vineyards have been cultivating vines for thousands of years. They are an ode to human labor and persistence.
