Our gulet Cruise Representative in Croatia

Goolets’ representatives and description of their work

A few years ago our CEO Mitja Mirtič already posted a blog about representative work and how this is one of the toughest & hardest jobs out there (if done properly of course). It demands to be done by a person who really knows what he is doing. This work is not for scared students, or people without any experience (working with people and under pressure). Also forget people with lots of experience, but without a real character and passion working in the tourist segment.

Such as Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Finalization and more. GOOLETS representatives also present important role of our Puzzle of perfection. They are final, but important part and bond between clients, agency, and owners. They represent an excellent start and finish of GOOLETS story in fully (Life is good!).

Must have qualities of gulet representatives

  • lots of flexibility,
  • lots and lots of patience,
  • lots and lots of ability to improvise while unexpected events happen,
  • must be open minded and good with people,
  • even if you are in a bad move you can’t show it to clients (ever),
  • must do this with your heart – if you suffer doing this – it will never work,
  • must have strong character if you are pushed around by hard clients or if a gulet owner not doing his job as he should,
  • you must be friendly and nice on 1 hand, and professional and strict on the other hand,
  • if you are a person that likes to complicate you will not be able to do it
  • if you do not know foreign languages (minimum very fluent English) – you will not be able to do it
  • if your hygiene standards are low – forget about it

Those are just the most important ones. The list does not end here. We have tried to optimize the gulet check-in procedure to serve the clients the best possible way and it is not as easy as it looks.

Let’s forget about the facts and focus on the main “Star” of our blog post. Ante Travizi is 25 years old Croatian, living in Split. He studies Hotel Management and Tourism and speaks English, Italian, Polish and Spanish. He likes traveling, art, meeting new people, and explore new cultures. He is definitely a hedonist, adventurous, enthusiastic, and sociable person who wants to enjoy life and give the best out of himself.

He can easily adapt anywhere and he is not a demanding person. He really wants to meet new people, hear their stories, and maybe learn something or find out something to inspire him. To sum up he has everything and more, that we mentioned above as “must-have qualities”.

Read his letter below and see it for yourself!

I have always adored staying on the deck while waiting for the guests to arrive. Hot sunny weather and a feeling of nice summer breeze cooling me. I have always felt like a navigator or more precisely, like Cpt. Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. I know my role in gulet cruise is just a blink of their story, but I enjoy being their first and last connection with this trip.

When people meet you on the gulet, you can see true happiness in their eyes. They have been (well not all of them) working the whole year. That is a lot of time, to be fair. However, they continued working, because of this moment. In psychology, they call it delayed gratification. Carefree gulet cruise in the Mediterranean with their family, friends, and loved ones. That is probably one of the moments when you are thankful for being alive. At that moment, they are the happiest people on the planet. I can say, (without being selfish) that I’m jealous of their memories.

Truth be told, I didn’t know what gulet was, before. Still, most people don’t. First of all, the gulet is a beautiful ship/boat, most commonly a mixture of senescent and modern architecture. I love the cozy, warm, homey feeling you get when you come to gulet. All the interior is wooden carved and it is simply beautiful. Rooms are just the right size. Everything is decorated in a noble way.

To me, the best part of being on a gulet cruise is freedom, far away from everybody. Do you want to go for a swim? Go for it. Want to eat in a restaurant? Do it. Want to give a toast to your loved ones and your dear crew members? Go ahead. Possibilities are limitless. You can create your own itinerary based on your interests. Everything about the gulet cruise is made for the guest to be happy. That is the only important thing. You want those people to have the best time in their life, to cherish those moments. You just simply give them what they want. You want other people to feel it like you did. Service has to be impeccable. I’ve met most of the crew members and I can say only the best. They are all professionals in their own way. Every gulet has charisma on its own.

In the end, I think the niche market for gulet can only prosper and become more fashionable. „Goolets“ company is doing a great job and I really admire that you care what your workers think and that you want my opinion. You like to brainstorm with me and my colleagues. That is thinking ahead and we can all prosper from that. Your approach motivates me and makes me work even harder, so thank you for everything, and of course, for this chance.
