Gulet Luna. Interview With the Owner
Gulet Luna is one of my favorite vessels from Croatia. Luna is actually not a gulet, but a Croatian build and made a motor sailor.
The motor sailor industry in Croatia is very strong and you can find more than a hundred ships all kind of sizes. But all those ships have something in common. They all have from 12 and up to 20 cabins and most of the times they to cabin charter cruises.
But owners of gulet Luna had a vision and have recognized a great opportunity in the market. They built this unique 33 meters vessel and instead of filling it with 18 or 20 cabins, which is normal, they only made 8 spacious cabins, put Jacuzzi and sauna on board and decided they will make a super luxury ship for the most demanding guests.
And they did the perfect thing! Gulet Luna is at this moment one of the TOP 5 ships for private charter in Croatia and if you ask me there is no other ship in Croatia available, that can offer such a combination of luxury, space, size, services in connection with the price.
If you have kids in your group and you get a group of 16 – 18 persons on this vessel, the cost per person is actually quite decent, according to what you are getting.
Here is also a short interview with one of the gulet owners of Luna
Can you describe what are the best things about your gulet?
The m/y Luna was completed in 2008 and is now available for private or corporate charter in Croatia! Luna is the ideal private luxury yacht for small groups of up to 18. Each of our 8 beautiful cabins has a complete en-suite bathroom and there’s an on board sauna and a Jacuzzi on the sundeck….The yacht is fully air conditioned. Its three public decks offer the amenities of a larger vessel, including bar, dining room and sun deck.
Why and how did you start gulet cruise business?
Brothers Ivan and Zoran Ercegovic started a family business in 1980s with their first ship Dalmatino. Now, the Luna is owned and operated by the third generation of these Croatian sailors.
What did you learn is the most important thing for clients while on a cruise? What do you have to do to get 100% satisfaction from clients?
I believe one of the most important factors besides the crew is the itinerary. Each route with us is designed just for the client and can include everything from overnighting in secluded harbors, swimming in clear azure waters in private bays to sampling charming coastal cities and tasting the bounty of local fishermen. The routes can be unique and personalized. Guests may choose their own routes. However, the captain must approve their choice in advance. The actual routes may vary due to bad weather conditions or too many ships docked at the same harbor. The captain may decide to spend the night elsewhere. However, these locations will be visited during the day. It is also possible to travel certain routes in a reverse order.
Does your gulet have something, which other gulets normally do not have? Do you have some special thing where you are different from the others?
What makes the Luna different from other gulets is jacuzzi on the sundeck and sauna with mini fitness room. We have free 2 kayaks, pilates, beach towels, the internet, dinghy, snorkeling gear,…
For what kind of groups your gulet is most suitable and why?
We do not have any proffered groups – everybody is welcome. If we specify somebody it might be discriminating. However to try to answer this question, maybe something like this:
Luna is the ideal private luxury yacht for small groups of up to 18 persons. It”s also, perfect for family vacations as well as corporate events and programs.
We had experience with different groups; from family groups with very small kids to corporate groups, tv crews,…they are all welcome!
What are your plans for the future?
We plan to stay in this business and improve it!
Which info do you believe is super important for clients, and agencies forget to tell it?
I have no idea what to answer here. Maybe agencies should explain to clients more the importance about the crew on board and best itinerary possibilities for clients.
Which itinerary do you believe is the most beautiful one, where clients see the best what Croatia has to offer? For the clients that have never been it Croatia before.
Croatia’s best feature is most certainly its coastline – lined with pine-woods, indented by numerous bays and coves and blessed with over a thousand islands. The sea is so clear that if you were to drop a coin and let it sink down to 30 meters of depth, you would still see it shining back at you.
In our opinion one of the best routes is Split-Dubrovnik: Split – Trogir – Island of Vis – Island of Hvar – Island of Korcula – Island of Mljet – Island of Sipan – Dubrovnik.
