A panoramic view of a coastal village with red-roofed houses, a harbor filled with boats, green hills, and a bright blue sky with scattered clouds.

Explore Island Vis in Croatia

If you wish to enjoy a Blue Cruise to Island Vis with a gulet, you can do so easily if you start the cruise in Split, Trogir, Dubrovnik,k or even Šibenik and Zadar if you plan a smart route.

It is worthwhile planning the trip to visit Island Vis as it is a very special place to visit for several reasons.

Idyllic mediterranean beach in Komiza

Here are the top things you can check in Island Vis

  • main town, which also has a name VISA
  • smaller but super beautiful village called Komiža.
  • military base (former rocket base which was closed to the public until recently)
  • small island Biševo
Amazing Stinva beach of Vis island Dalmatia Croatia 2
  • Blue Cave – very famous
  • Green Cave – also super beautiful, but not as famous as Blue Cave
  • Stončica bay
  • Stivina Bay
One of the places on Island Vis, which is almost a must-visit, is also a visit to one of the local taverns inside the island (inland).
Island Vis is famous for this nature/farming tourism, and if you decide to have dinner (called Peka) there, you will not be sorry. Also, a lobster dinner is not out of the question on Vis. But you have to note that in advance. You will be transferred by taxi to a restaurant (around 20 minutes drive or something) where the food (mostly lamb and piglet or a mixture of both and potatoes) is all made in the fire. Super tasty and super nice. If the weather allows you, I would consider Island Vis for 2 whole days. On one day, you check the main town and go inland with a special trip to Blue Cave. The next day, you go to the other side of the island and check really amazing bays and beaches that will take your mind away. Visit Vis Island. You will not be sorry. Check out the Croatia gulets that you can rent if you would like to visit Vis.
