FAQs
Here are the most frequently asked questions and answers.
Can I book just a cabin, or must I charter the entire yacht?
You can only charter the entire yacht; individual cabins are not available for booking.
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
Our policy adheres to yachting industry standards and follows the MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) terms. The term about cancellation and refund: Should the charterer give notice of cancellation of the MYBA agreement on or at any time before the commencement of the Charter Period, some or all of the Charter Fee may be retained by the yacht owner, determined as follows: - After this Agreement is signed but before the final instalment is due to be paid, the yacht owner shall be entitled to retain the first instalment. - After any subsequent instalments are due to be paid, the yacht owner shall be entitled to retain the first instalment and any subsequent instalments due. If any of the instalments are due to be paid but have not been paid then the yacht owner shall have a claim against the charterer for the amount so due.
How is the ideal yacht selected?
Our yacht charter specialist gathers detailed information, including your desired destination, activities, experiences, group type, budget, and more. Based on this information, they match you with the yacht and crew that best suit your needs and preferences.
What is the reservation process?
Your first point of contact at Goolets will be with a Concierge Assistant / Yacht charter planner. This involves a full review and confirmation of all of your wishes. This information is collated, then we confirm availability with the yacht owner. We then prepare the necessary paperwork including the charter contract which is signed three ways - by you (the charterer), by us (the broker), and by the yacht owner. Upon payment of a 50% deposit, the yacht booking is secured. Your wishlist is compiled and the planning for your trip commences - usually one or two months prior to departure. You will be sent a questionnaire where you will confirm the passenger names, your menu preferences, any food allergies, whether you need airport transfers booked, and so on. We communicate with the yacht’s crew and create a day-by-day itinerary. Final payments are made 4 weeks prior to departure, and all relevant travel documents and destination advice are issued. The crew is briefed on any last-minute requests. At check-in, our destination experts will arrange everything on the ground to ensure easy embarkation. We stay in contact throughout your holiday to ensure everything is going as planned.
Are the sailing routes and destinations safe?
Absolutely. We collaborate with highly professional and experienced captains and crew, whose top priority is ensuring your safety both onboard and onshore. Additionally, our yacht charter specialists design tailored sailing routes that lead to the most fascinating destinations while prioritizing safety throughout the journey.
What is the cost of a yacht charter?
We specialize in crewed vessels, where prices can range anywhere from € 5,000 per week up to more than € 1 million per week. Most of our charters fall into three price levels: From € 10,000 to € 30,000 per week: This price range has the largest variety of yachts, and includes smaller vessels - motor and sail, gulets, and classic yachts. When booking, it is important to ensure proper maintenance inspections have been carried out, and the crews are professionally trained, speak fluent English, and can provide excellent service. Around 30% of our customers book vessels in this range. From € 30,000 to € 100,000 per week: This price level is becoming more popular every season. It includes a wide range of yachts, traditional and modern. These are high-specification vessels offering every imaginable comfort. Around 50% of our clients book yachts in this price range. From € 100,000 per week: This price level includes ultra-luxury vessels such as mega yachts. These are the most highly sought-after charter yachts in the world, with a wide range of high-end water toys onboard - including jet skis, a helipad, and even a submarine. These charters are very bespoke and every detail is managed to cater to exacting requirements. A small percentage of our clients book these superyachts.
What is included in the charter price?
The charter price for Croatia includes fuel for up to 4 hours of daily cruising, the onboard crew, and 24/7 assistance from Goolets.
What is APA, what it includes and how it is calculated?
A.P.A. (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is always calculated at 30% of the charter price. For example, if you charter a yacht for €100,000 a week, the APA will be €30,000. APA covers the following costs, but is not limited to fuel for tender and water sports equipment; additional fuel for cruising (above 4 hours per day), food and beverages for the Charter Party; berthing dues and other harbor charges including pilots ’fees, local taxes, divers’ fees, customs formalities, charges for waste disposal, charges for water and electricity taken from shore; shipping agents’ fees where applicable; Charter Party personal laundry; hire or purchase costs of any special equipment placed on board at the Charterer’s request, shoreside transport, and excursions, national park entrances and other costs for services requested by Charter Party during the charter and all other costs not specified as included. The Charterer pays A.P.A. in addition to the charter fee for all relevant costs for the vessel that are not included in the charter fee. If A.P.A. does not cover complete costs, the Charterer will pay the excess amount on board in cash. If costs made on charter are less than the amount given as A.P.A., the amount not spent will be returned to the Charterer at the end of the voyage. A.P.A. does not include a tip for the crew.
